At Haato Ando Haato, part of the pleasure is choosing fresh, chewy pasta with a sauce and toppings to suit your taste. One diner who had basil peperoncino and Napolitan at lunch said the pasta arrived piping hot and seemed like “a little more than expected”, but they finished it all. On another visit, a seafood cream pasta ordered despite not having a picture on the menu came with large shrimp and clams and made for a satisfying meal.

One diner described the Napolitan as a classic version with a pleasant tang, and added grated cheese and aubergine. For those who want time to consider the toppings, orders can be placed by smartphone; asking a member of staff is also an option, according to a review. The varied menu offers plenty of other directions to explore, including spinach and bacon with soy sauce, arrabbiata and salt-seasoned vongole.

In the evening, beer and whisky are among the drinks available alongside the pasta. Weekday-only dinner sets listed on the menu include Set A, with a half portion of the day’s salad and a drink; Set B, which also comes with mini garlic toast; and Set C, which includes a mini dessert. The sets can be added to pasta, pizza or risotto.
